Folkestone Documentary Festival

Folkestone Documentary Festival

The inaugural edition of Folkestone Documentary Festival follows the success of the monthly Doc Club at the Folkestone Quarterhouse which began in 2019. Confirmed films include Stray directed by Elizabeth Lo, Truffle Hunters directed by Gregory Kershaw, Michael Dweck and Everybody in the Place directed by Jeremy Deller who will also present a masterclass at the festival. The filmmaker focus for this year will be French New Wave director Agnes Varda focusing on her short and longform work culminating in a community meal with Custom Food Lab following a screening of her film The Gleaners and I. The festival is excited to be working with guest programmers Karen Alexander and Rachel Pronger who will present films at the festival. Doc Lover weekend passes will give access to all the events, talks and films over the course of the weekend. The full programme for the festival will be announced in October.

This will be Folkestone's first documentary festival, and this accessible and open festival will aim to deepen Folkestone’s relationship to the documentary form and provide a chance to talk together about the relevance of documentaries of all kinds to our lives.
