Welcome to the inaugural Folkestone Documentary Festival. The festival follows in footsteps of the monthly Doc Club at Folkestone Quarterhouse which began in 2019 and aims to present inspiring, innovative and impressive documentaries to more people than ever before.
The jam-packed programme includes a dog-friendly screening of Stray directed by Elizabeth Lo, I Get Knocked Down by Sophie Robinson and Everybody in the Place directed by Jeremy Deller who will be in conversation at the festival.
The filmmaker focus for this year will be French New Wave director Agnes Varda. We will screen her film The Gleaners and I, followed by a community meal in The Clearing prepared by Andre Verissimo (aka Local Foreigner) with seasonal food provided by East Kent Gleaning Hub.
The festival is excited to be working with guest programmers Karen Alexander and Rachel Pronger who will present and introduce films in person at the festival. Doc Lover festival passes will give you access to all the events, talks and films over the course of the weekend.
This will be Folkestone's first documentary festival, and this accessible and open festival will aim to deepen Folkestone’s relationship to the documentary form and provide a chance to talk together about the relevance of documentaries of all kinds to our lives.
All screenings and events can be booked individually or enjoyed as part of our festival pass.
Festival passes are available at full and concessionary rates. Or bring a friend and book a joint festival pass.
Please note, for your festival pass to work, you must complete the purchase of the pass before booking screenings. Once the pass is applied to your account all individual Documentary Festival bookings will be included in your pass.
