Getting to Folkestone

Folkestone sits right on the south east edge of the UK. We are just and hour from London by train and on a clear day you can see France. This makes us an ideal destination for daytrips, holidays and staycations. 

As if you needed more reasons to visit us, this summer Folkestone Triennail returns with artworks to inspire and demonstrate why this little corner of the UK is so very special. Here is all the info you need to plan your journey to Folkestone. 

Getting here

By train

High speed trains run regularly from London St Pancras International, getting you to Folkestone in just over 50 minutes. Folkestone Central Station is a short walk from the centre of town and approximately 15 minutes from the Creative Quarter and harbour area. For full details visit Southeastern Railway.

By car

From the M20, turn off at junction 13 and follow signs to the Harbour. (SAT NAV USERS – CT20 1BN)

Parking

Parking is available behind Quarterhouse with a limited number of spaces. Parking, including monthly and annual permits, can be purchased via PayByPhone

Download the PayByPhone app from the app store or check information on parking meters in the Quarterhouse car park for details. 

Additional car parks can be found near by at Tram Road (2 mins), Payers Park (2 mins) and the Harbour car park (5 mins). All council car parks charge daily fees starting from £1.20 per hour. 

Park and Ride 

Pay just £5 to park all day and catch the shuttle bus to Folkestone and the Harbour. 

The pilot of the new Folkestone Park and Ride service - operated by Stagecoach - will run from the Motis Business Centre in Cheriton near J12 of the M20, CT19 4 QJ.

This service will operate every weekend until October and daily during the summer holidays. 

Shuttle buses will run every 30 minutes between 9am and 6pm to Folkestone Harbour via Folkestone Central Station.

It costs £5 to park all day at the Motis Business Centre in Cheriton for up to 6 people. This fee includes free use of the shuttle bus service and should be paid to the bus driver. Payment can be via cash or card. 

By bus or coach

A direct National Express coach service runs from London Victoria Coach Station to the main bus station in Folkestone's town centre. Stagecoach operates a network of routes linking local towns and villages to Folkestone.
