Georgina Treloar, Memo Dumay, George Clift, Ross Blair, Helen Lindon
This piece has been created in response to the smoke from the Australian wildfires that reached Chile in January 2020. FUME begins with a creative soundscape response with long-time music collaborators Georgina Treloar (Australia) and Memo Dumay (Chile) and manifests in a live improvised performance with George Clift, Ross Blair, and Georgina Treloar who return from their first-time collaboration in last year’s Profound Sound.
The set explores a narrative of fire, desertification and sea level rise, casting a triangulation between the Atacama Desert, the Australian Desert and our very own desert in Dungeness. Artist and activist Helen Lindon, whose art explores related environmental themes will create a live artwork in response to the sonic narrative of the climate and ecological crisis. Members of the audience will also be invited to draw their interpretations of the sounds they hear.
