As part of Tune In Folkestone, join experimental musician Tell Me About Your Mother to create an improvised composition stitched together out of sounds plundered from local charity shops. This event sits somewhere between a scavenger hunt and a jam session!
Play with hardware and learn the basics of live looping to help turn waste into wonder and form an audio snapshot of Folkestone.
Tell Me About Your Mother is a fluid collective of musicians using looping to explore the limits of live performance. Aiming to fuse a gig mentality with improvisational weirdness and visual art, every performance is different - thumping club sets to chillout beats, meandering improvised sagas to tight pop bangers.
Meet at The Memorial Arch on The Leas, Folkestone to meet the group and start your hunt! You will then make your way to Creative Folkestone Quarterhouse for the rest of your workshop. Please be prepared to walk approximately 1km with suitable footwear and clothing, and please note attendees will need to purchase any found sound Treasures using their own money to purchase (we would suggest max spend £5).
Booking is essential to take part in the workshop as there is limited capacity.
Suitable for adults and children (recommended age 7+). Children must be accompanied by an adult.
