Calling all young aspiring producers - we want to hear from you!

Do you want to book your favorite band, DJ, or artist to headline a festival in Folkestone? Have you got ideas for an event in Folkestone?

We’re looking to put together a team of 16-25 year olds based in Folkestone, Hythe & Romney Marsh to be Festival Producers, to programme and run a festival in Folkestone this Summer. 

You’ll work with Creative Folkestone and Metaxu Collective to deliver an exciting one-day festival and develop your production skills including event programming, artist liaison and technical planning. 

This project is open to anyone interested in developing their creative and production skills – all abilities experience levels are welcome.

You should be:

  • Passionate about arts & culture
  • Keen to learn and absorb new skills
  • Interested in meeting new people and working as part of a team
  • Ready to work to deadlines
  • Aim to be well-organised and work well independently 

How will the project work?

The Project Team will be led by six Festival Producers aged 16-25 years with the support of Metaxu Collective and Creative Folkestone, who will meet regularly to plan for the event. Festival Producers will have independent tasks to complete outside of these meetings. The Project team will work collaboratively to deliver the festival on the day of the event. 

The festival event will take place on Sunday 3 July

The first Project Team meeting will take place on Monday 21 March. The Project Team will meet twice monthly on Mondays after school/work hours, until the event delivery. Festival Producers will need to be able to commit to all the above although dates will be set as a team. 

The festival will take place in Payers Park, Folkestone (behind Quarterhouse, CT20 1BN) The project meetings will take place in Creative Folkestone Quarterhouse. 

This is a paid opportunity. Festival Producers will each receive a £500 fee for their time. If you live outside of Folkestone, we can also help with travel costs.

Remember to refer to the skills description above. We are particularly interested in finding out what you feel you have missed out on as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

You will be assessed on what you say, not the quality of your presentation.
