a:dress : Clothes Clinic with Dorit Young

Sorry, this event has sold out

Bring your favourite piece of clothing (jumper, denims, dress or head-wear) to the Clothes Clinic and learn how to mend, repair or make small alterations with professional assistance.

Give your clothing item a new lease of life and save it from landfill. When you book a place we will email you and ask for images of the clothes you will be bringing to the workshop so that we can prepare or inform you what to bring.

Dorit is a trained London based couture milliner with an MA in Critical Fashion from Goldsmiths College. She has been mending and altering clothes all her adult life and is passionate about wearing pre-owned cloths. With this workshop she hopes to enhance the make do and mend spirit. Part of the a:dress: women, fashion and eco-action project

Participants need to have basic hand sewing skills.

a:dress is a Folkestone-based project of activism and informal education designed to raise awareness and to challenge the devastating impact of fast fashion on the environment. Its focus is on female consumers, as women are disproportionately affected by both fast fashion and climate crisis.
