Schools Events

Inspiring a Love of Books for the Next Generation – for Free.
Folkestone Book Festival isn’t just for grown-ups – it’s also home to a joyful, completely free programme of events created especially for local primary schools. This year’s Primary School Series features four brilliant authors, brought to Folkestone to fire imaginations, spark laughter, and inspire the readers (and writers) of tomorrow.
Curated by author and festival curator Sophie Haydock, the Primary School Series is part of Creative Folkestone’s mission to ensure that every child has access to creativity, inspiration, and the life-changing magic of books – regardless of background.
These events are designed to do more than entertain. They aim to plant a seed. When a child meets a real-life author, sees themselves reflected in a story, or laughs along with their classmates during a live reading, something shifts. Confidence grows. Curiosity deepens. Doors open. And this year’s line-up is bursting with brilliance.
Every event is free, and open to primary schools in Folkestone. Together, we're building a generation of curious, confident and creative young readers.
