Accessibility at Folkestone Triennial 2025

We want everyone to enjoy the Folkestone Triennial.

The Folkestone Triennial 2025 welcomed visitors from near and far to explore artworks across the town. We recognise that Folkestone’s unique landscape presents accessibility challenges and are committed to learning from this year’s event to make future Triennials more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

Folkestone is a historic town, situated across two cliffs. Getting around can involve steep streets, cobbles, hills and narrow paths. Some artworks are located in unusual outdoor places, which can make them harder to reach. During the 2025 Triennial, we worked to support visitors in navigating these challenges and made information available to help people plan their visits.

We know there is always more we can do to improve accessibility across our events and venues. We are continuing to learn from the 2025 edition and are developing new resources and approaches to make future Triennials more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

• Many of the remaining artworks are outdoors and in different parts of the town.

• Some routes have hills or steps.

• Some artworks can be viewed from a distance if you cannot get close.

• Some artworks are situated in or on historic structures and may not have step-free access.

The Folkestone Triennial Visitor Centre was located at Quarterhouse, an accessible venue with on-site parking and accessible toilets.

There are several other locations around the town and exhibition that offer public toilets that are free to use.

There are two changing places within easy access in Folkestone.
