Folkestone Triennial tours are a brilliant way to experience the town and this year’s exhibition. Our critic-led tours offer a deeper look at selected artworks through the eyes of leading writers, curators and art historians.
This special walking tour is led by Hettie Judah, a writer and curator who regularly contributes to The Guardian, Frieze and The Times Literary Supplement. Her work explores art, identity and care, with a particular focus on supporting artist parents and inclusive practice.
Hettie is the curator of the Hayward Gallery Touring exhibition Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood, currently on show at DCA in Dundee. She is the author of How Not To Exclude Artist Mothers (and other parents) and Lapidarium: The Secret Lives of Stones. Her next book, How to Enter the Art World After, will be published in 2026. As a broadcaster, she can be heard on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row, and she regularly speaks at universities, galleries and public events across the UK.
The tour will go ahead whatever the weather, so please come prepared with clothing and footwear suitable for walking outdoors. While we aim to make all tours as accessible as possible, some routes include hills, uneven ground or narrow paths due to the historic nature of the town.
