Open Quarter

Explore the Creative Quarter's hidden spaces and meet the people that are the driving force behind this unique and creative community. Ten days of open studios, exhibitions, performances workshops, on-street entertainment, theatre, live music and much more.

So come and join us in our creative village and talk to the interesting folk that have chosen to live and work here. With ten days of events we can guarantee you will have ample time to relax, learn, explore and play. We would like to thank all of the people who are contributing to this year’s event and look forward to seeing you at Open Quarter 2019.

Connecting Creatives

Local business owners, artists and start-ups are invited to meet, share knowledge and talk about plans for the future. Featuring a programme of speakers working across the creative industries, this casual mini-conference condenses big ideas into bite-size portions. This year's speakers include:

Family Fun Day

Sunday 16 June | 2-5pm | digital:glassworks courtyard | Free

Join Creative Quarter artists and creatives for an afternoon of family fun, featuring Mrs H & the Sing-Along Band, DJ Local Foreigner, puppet shows, face-painting, badge-making, jewellery-making, drawing workshops and food and drink stalls from LEAF (local, ethical, affordable food), with a funky tropical vibe!

Plus, Supreme Science: It IS Rocket Science! Hands-on science entertainment for all the family. Supreme Science will be helping children to design, build and test water rockets. It's a great opportunity to get the kids learning about science and have fun while doing it!

Colour/Composition/Construction with Heather Orr - An experimental textiles workshop which explores a range of recycled materials. Taking inspiration from Folkestone Artworks, explore texture, colour and compostition through a range of construction techniques.

Saturday 22 June

Tour Folkestone Artworks with Dave Pigeon and Sheena Dempsey - Join children's illustrator Sheena Demspey, to develop characters and stories based on the children's book series Dave Pigeon, as Dave and his friend Skipper explore Folkestone Artworks.
