SALT + EARTH: You Are Here (pre-Amble)

Beginning in November of 2022, Writer Francine Hajilou led Entangled roots: a series of reading/walking circles in + around Folkestone for womxn of the global majority to celebrate and reclaim their collective ancestral histories; while also reimagining their present and future relationship to the land and the natural world through walking together and sharing conversations.

It formed part of a wider programme that was entitled ‘Seeding The Commons’, produced by Custom Food Labs, and resulted in a zine that explored poetry, essays and conversations informed and inspired by these walks and its themes.

Building on this project, Francine will lead a walk for womxn of the global majority, holding space for deep listening, and free writing. The route will start at Urban Room Folkestone and continue to East Cliff, The Warren and end at The Locavore Community Garden.

The path for the walk is mostly flat, and will take approximately 1 and a half hours. Meet at Urban Room Folkestone at 14:50 for a 15:00 start. The walk will last three hours. Bring water. Wear appropriate clothing.
