What if a bird could remix its own love song? Hanna Tuulikki’s Love (Warbler Remix) brings this idea to life through the Marsh Warbler - a clever migrating bird that copies and blends the songs it hears on its journey.
In this work, Hanna imagines a fictional creature called the Love Warbler - part bird, part human - returning to breed among the concrete sound mirrors at Dungeness. The piece brings to life the song of this hybrid through a mix of traditional love songs collected along the Marsh Warbler’s migration route, transformed using the bird’s song structure.
Blending these compositions with live sounds from the acoustic mirrors, the piece is broadcast into a listening station in Folkestone that overlooks the Channel.
Love (Warbler Remix) takes a bird’s-eye view to celebrate the ancient routes travelled by both humans and animals. Hanna’s work invites us to listen closely to Nature’s rhythms and the stories of connection and kinship woven through migration.

About the artist
Hanna Tuulikki is a British-Finnish artist, composer and performer whose work explores how we connect with the more-than-human world. Drawing on folk traditions, ecological thought and embodied practice, she uses voice, movement and costume to tell stories of place, kinship and transformation.
Working across performance, film, sound and installation, Tuulikki creates interdisciplinary works that are often rooted in specific landscapes and vernacular traditions. Her distinctive approach blends vocal composition with gestural choreography, responding to histories of mimicry, ritual and ecological interdependence.
Recent projects have addressed the emotional impact of the climate crisis and the role of art in navigating grief, wonder and care for a rapidly changing world. Her work has been presented at British Art Show 9, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, IMA Brisbane, Biennale of Sydney, Helsinki Biennial, Take Me Somewhere, Kochi-Muziris Biennale and Edinburgh Art Festival. She recently received an Oram Award and was shortlisted for an Ivor Novello Award in sound art.
Tuulikki lives and works in Glasgow.
