Andrew Lownie & Stephen Bates: Secrecy and the British Establishment
Sorry, this event has sold out
Why are British institutions so in thrall to secrecy and arcane rituals, and how do they work to close ranks to preserve those secrets?
Literary agent Andrew Lownie, author of The Mountbattens and Traitor King, has taken the Cabinet Office to court (at his own expense) under FOI legislation to secure full access to Lord Mountbatten’s’ diaries. Lownie is in conversation with Stephen Bates, author of A Very Oxford Scandal: Something rotten in the British Establishment. Stephen Bates lives in Deal.
