‘Connecting Creatives’ is a free monthly networking event for all creatives in Folkestone, and beyond. Guest speakers showcase their work, discuss their practice or share their skills, and time is provided after for informal discussions and networking. Free drinks will be provided.
At this July’s event, the theme we’re highlighting is 'Fundraising’. Join us to find out how can you fund your project, where to focus your energy, and who can you ask to ‘Show Me The Money!’. We have some great speakers lined up, ready to help you put the fun into fundraising!
Adam Coleman is a producer, fundraiser and strategist in the cultural sector. He currently combines part-time policy work at Arts Council England alongside PhD research at the University of Warwick. He has previously held leadership roles at Gloucester Culture Trust, Eden Court Highlands, Company Three and the Lyric Hammersmith, and is a Trustee of Folkestone’s Leas Lift.
Jo McLean, Director, People United. Jo is a relationship builder with over 15 years’ experience as a leader in the cultural sector. Jo has worked across sectors often with an international scope. She’s particularly interested in helping individuals and organisations clarify their purpose, innovate their business models, and bring people together to shape and align behind a vision.
Matthew Jones is Creative Director and founder of 1DegreeEast, a producer-led initiative focused on developing artists, producers, and programmers in the South East. Matthew is producer who has worked predominantly in theatre, dance, and outdoor arts for over thirty years. He has been the executive producer or director for 6 National Portfolio Organisations.
Michelle Parker, Head of Development, Creative Folkestone, has worked in development for over twenty years fundraising for major arts organisations including English National Ballet, the Design Museum and Dulwich Picture Gallery. Michelle has been at Creative Folkestone since 2017 and has a wealth of fundraising experience including corporate sponsorship, trusts and foundations, individual giving and public grant giving.

Doors are open from 5.15pm. We welcome all creatives to this event, whether a Creative Quarter tenant, a Folkestone resident, or a creative from near or far.
