Sacconi Chamber Music Festival: Alice Zawadzki & Fred Thomas

Loosely connected to the world of jazz but realistically inhabiting their own realm, singer and violinist Alice Zawadzki, and pianist and percussionist Fred Thomas invite our Folkestone audience into a magical world of storytelling, delving into the golden age of song with the warmth and spirit of their trademark multi-lingual settings of European folk songs, as well as pieces from Alice's latest album, Within You Is A World Of Spring.

Alice's musical friendship with award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Fred Thomas, has grown out of almost a decade of playing together, finding joy in their shared obsessions and richness in the hidden stories of each song they embrace.

This is a sound-world sitting somewhere between the pith of folkloric music, campfire intimacy, and classical lyricism. Towards the end of tonight's special one-off concert, they will be joined by their friends, the Sacconi Quartet, for a luxurious finale of chamber music at its most luminous, thoughtful, and quixotic.
