Take Up Space: I know you’re tired

A night of live art and performance to launch Take Up Space Festival 2023.

We live in a society that tires us out. Oppression, gender norms, underpaid and unpaid labour, and the crises that envelop the world can make life feel unmanageable.

I know you’re tired.

This night of performance, poetry and pop music lovingly witnesses our collective tiredness and asks: how can we do things differently? With euphoric cabaret from Symoné, poetry that examines queer nature, and bangers from DJs Bimbeaux Collective, I know you’re tired provides a space for your mind to experiment.

Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the atmosphere and dance the night away until the early hours.

Those taking part include: Poetry by Josie Carter, poetry about the climate by mother and daughter Fran & Lila. Activist and landworker SZ Shao will perform a poetry set. Fran reads some of her work regarding tiredness. Poet and activist Leah Thorn will perform a poetry set. Poems by Lexi Wolf and Precious Hunter Smith. Spoken-word artist, writer, performance artist, and Drama and Movement Therapist / Creative Arts psychotherapist Boldie will perform a poetry set. World record holding hula hoop artist Symone will join us for a cabaret piece, and Josie Cole.
