We are looking for an enthusiastic team of volunteers to join us as we embark on a new phase of work.
As a volunteer, you will help us to look after the Creative Folkestone Artworks collection. Folkestone Artworks is the UK’s largest urban contemporary art exhibition, free and accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Sited outdoors around the town and harbour, the artworks pop up in both scenic and surprising locations. The changing exhibition currently consisting of 74 artworks by 46 artists – including Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley, Yoko Ono, Mark Wallinger, Cornelia Parker, Bill Woodrow, Michael Craig-Martin and Ian Hamilton Finlay – offers an experience like nowhere else in the world: great contemporary art with an invitation to explore, examine and understand the town’s geography, history and potential future.
This is a new, exciting opportunity to get involved with Creative Folkestone and Folkestone Artworks by volunteering to be an important part in the upkeep of our town’s free urban exhibition. Volunteers will be tasked to carry out regular checks on their designated artworks, and report back on their condition so that we can ensure that all the artworks look their best for everyone to enjoy. As the volunteer programme develops there will be more opportunities to learn skills, gain knowledge and be part of one of the most ambitious art exhibitions in the world.
This role will suit people who have an interest in art in cultural settings, enjoy walking, maintenance, learning about art, and/or are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge about art.
