Every great conversation starts with a question.
This year, Folkestone Book Festival brings together an outstanding group of hosts and chairs who will help guide discussions, uncover new ideas and create memorable experiences for audiences across the festival.
While authors may take centre stage, hosts and chairs play a vital role in every event. They help audiences discover more about the books, stories and ideas being explored, making each conversation engaging, thoughtful and accessible.
What makes this year's line-up particularly special is its strong connection to Folkestone. Around 70% of our hosts and chairs are based locally, reflecting the community spirit that has been at the heart of the festival since it began.
Their involvement highlights what makes Folkestone Book Festival unique. Alongside welcoming leading writers, thinkers and public figures to the town, the festival creates opportunities for local voices to be part of the conversation. It is a place where books spark ideas, and where ideas bring people together.
From debut novels and powerful memoirs to discussions about history, politics, culture and contemporary life, this year's programme offers audiences the chance to hear from some remarkable speakers. Our hosts and chairs will be there every step of the way, helping to bring these stories and conversations to life.
Whether you're a long-time festival attendee or planning your first visit, we invite you to join us for a programme built around books, ideas and community.
