Open Quarter is back! Creative Folkestone invites you to come and explore an urban village of artists and creatives in sunny Folkestone this summer. Rediscover Folkestone’s Creative Quarter from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 July and celebrate our vibrant creative community.
Folkestone is well known for its creativity. You will find artworks on every corner around the town and at the heart of that creativity is the Creative Quarter. The Creative Quarter is home to an inspiring community of artists, creatives, movers, and shakers. The annual Open Quarter event is your opportunity to go behind the scenes, enjoy open studios, meet artists and party in the park.
This year, Open Quarter starts on Friday 1 July with Connecting Creatives at Quarterhouse. This event is an opportunity to meet artists and creatives. Connecting Creatives is like a mini-conference with people sharing ideas. Following Connecting Creatives, First Fridays will turn the Creative Quarter into an exhibition of performances, exhibitions, music and more for one night only.
Saturday is all about Open Studios. Meet artists, see work in progress and maybe grab an original artwork for your home. Then, on Sunday, Open Quarter will culminate with a family-friendly party in the park. This year a team of Young Producers will put together a programme of fun-filled events in Folkestone’s Payers Park. Expect everything from music to dance, theatre to skating, and maybe a few surprises.
Recently named one of Lonely Planet’s Must-Visit Destinations for 2022, Folkestone is the place to be. As part of England’s Heritage Coast, Folkestone is steeped in history with an exciting future. The Creative Quarter combines the past, present and future of Folkestone. In these historic, cobbled streets, you will find inspiring artists that incorporate everything from traditional techniques to cutting edge technologies.
