Alex Boican
Alex Boican is a Romanian born multi-disciplinary artist based in Folkestone. At the centre of Alex’s art practice is the symbolic life of partial objects: faces, chairs, and vessels. His art practice includes oil painting, mixed media drawing, printing, performance, and poetic installations. Alex has collaborated with Ernst Fischer and the Beton Collective on several art installations including Vessels (2024), and Monologues and Waiting Rooms (2022). Alex is the creator of The Nervous Drawing Workshop, a space of free mark-making exploration, which he facilitates in collaboration with Deborah Crofts. His latest projects include: 48 Heads (a dynamic poetic installation of nervous drawings), The Chair (performance), and a series of works exploring the boundaries between abstract and figurative painting.
