Based in Folkestone’s Creative Quarter in South East England, Heather Orr specialises in Constructed Textiles. The Heather Orr studio creates innovative lighting and handmade interior products using traditional textile processes, for the contemporary interior.

With a focus on sustainability, recycled and reclaimed materials are sourced where possible such as recycled cotton cord and reclaimed vintage frames. The Reclaimed Collection gives old shades a new lease of life, discarded vintage lampshades are stripped back, given a fresh coating and knotted with a choice of yarn in a range of colours and finishes. All yarns and fabrics used within our collections conform to OEKO-TEX® standard 100, tested for harmful substances.

The Heather Orr Home Collections are inspired by a love of process and craftsmanship alongside a high level of finish. Materials such as raffia, recycled cotton and linen feature alongside a range of silky-soft viscose tape yarns, which are corded in the Heather Orr studio and finished by hand with custom-made Perspex beads.

Heather’s specific interests lie in the link between making, health and wellbeing. A desire to inspire others through teaching has led to a range of exciting workshops for students and creatives in partnership with others. In response to the need for us to stay at home, Heather has adapted her popular range of workshops into a series of online videos, accompanied by a materials kit delivered to your door.
